Pumpkin, Fall, Halloween Sensory Bin

Pulled out a sensory bin and laid it on the floor
and both boys just flocked to it!

My 9 month old got more into it than my 5 year old, but here is a list of things I put in it:
- candy corn
- fall leaves with different textures
- pom pom balls
- foam mini pumpkin die cuts
- foam halloween stickers
- pieces of pumpkin patch ribbon
- 2 small cauldrons i had left from a past oriental trading order

My 5 year old took out the ribbon pieces and the cauldrons.  He made the cauldrons into cannons that fired out ribbons or flares of fire.

My 9 month old just had shaking the pan and listening to the candy corns rattle.  He also loved picking up the pom pom balls and then jiggling his hands in the whole bin.

Overall lots of fun, tons of imaginary play for my oldest and a whole new world experience for my youngest.

Have Fun and Be a Blessing!

Nativity Sensory Train Table

So, I've finally ventured into "sensory" stuff and I think I outdid myself this time, LOL.  My son was so ecstatic over this, it's been non-stop play AND he had to show his grandma and grandpa (since they watch him while I work in the mornings).

I used my son's train table with the tracks and all to set up a Nativity scene with SNOW! Yes, snow.  The Bible says Mary wrapped Jesus in swaddling cloths because it was cold - to sink in the concept of "cold", I put snow on the table.

Here is our Nativity Sensory Train Table:
Here is the Nativity Set with all the SNOW!!!

We did role playing.  Jordan carried the 3 presents
and we pretended to be the wisemen on a long journey
to Jerusalem to bring gifts to the king.  When we found
the newborn king, Jordan gave him the gifts.

Playing with the donkey that Joseph and Mary
used on their long journey.

Woah, he moves fast!!!

The 3 Wise Men standing before Christ, the King!

Look mama a donkey!!!

Woah, the snow balls fit in my train tracks!!!

 Why, won't they stay???

Great fine motor activity without any thought to it, lol

Picking up the snow flakes, he thought they tickled!!

Stacking more snow balls.

I can blow on them to make them move!!!

Put snow in the donkey's cart and poured it out.

Another view of our sensory train Nativity table.

And I knew it, the train was going to come out sooner or later, lol.

It's the star to follow to baby Jesus.

Christmas Sensory Bin

Christmas offers so much for a sensory bin and I found so many neat things at our Dollar Store.  Jordan was very surprised when he found his sensory bin and he's been having fun with it every day now.  He's so excited about Christmas!

I found fake snow flakes at the Dollar Store and used this as filler.

Sorting activities with beads of different sizes and colors and mirror shapes.

Lots of stuff for feeling, smelling, and creating.

Here is what I included in our sensory bin:
  • Mini Gift Bows of different colors
  • Scented Votive Candles
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Playdough
  • Plastic Red Spoons for scooping & digging
  • Miniature Wrapped Gifts
  • Miniature Plastic Drums
  • Fake Holly Berries
  • Snow balls
  • Decorative Foam Balls with Silver Glitter
  • Plastic Candy Canes
  • Beads
  • Mirror Shapes
  • Plastic Storage Boxes
  • Sorting Tray
  • Garland
  • Christmas Wrapping Squares of different textures

This is my first attempt at a sensory bin, as I've never thought about doing one before... but it was a hit with my toddler, so I'm going to make another one the week of Christmas when we do a lesson unit on the Nativity! :)

Please share with me what you have included in your Christmas sensory bin, I love ideas!

Have fun and be a blessing!
