School Week Organization

After changing to different methods of organization, I finally found the method that works for us and my son loves it!!!

I tried the workbox system, but that was just too tedious for my son and by the time he got to the third box he would say "OK, I'm done!" So, how did I get him through the rest of the day... pretty much just playing and leaving the workboxes alone, otherwise I was in for a fight.

So, I transferred the workbox system into a daily folder and voila! it worked!!! I put all the activities for one into one folder and let him pick and choose what he wants to do in what order.  To keep me sane, I compile a lesson plan of ALL the activities and then I break them down into a Daily School Schedule.  Here is an example:

It's not the best picture, but it gives you an idea.  I just use a different color manila folder for each day.  I label them "Monday", "Tuesday", etc. instead of by date to keep it less expensive.

This system works the BEST for us and it saves me lots of time.

How do you stay organized throughout the week? What system works best in your homeschool?

  1. For the life of me I can't seem to get organized no matter what! I'm trying though. I think if I only had one child I would be able to concentrate more on him. Now that I have two I juggle life all the time! Maybe as they get older it will even out. Good job!

  2. Your system looks great. I've found that it's best for me to plan out what we will accomplish term by term. Then I can plan week by week according to what is going on in our lives.

  4. Good for you for figuring out what works for your family, I am still working on it myself... I keep thinking I've got it down, but then get out of rhythm

  5. I have a 2 and 4 year old and for us us the best thing so far is a really large 3 ring binder with each weeks stuff and worksheets. I think next year I'm going to try out the folder method like you've done that way there is one for each day and it'll be easy for my kids to see what they are doing that day. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Also, where do you get your lesson ideas and your worksheets from? You are so organized.
