Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins

Our Pumpkin Week

This is our "Board" for the week.
I review this everyday.
We decided to add to our board the
Pumpkin Life Cycle Cards:

Here are some of the activities we have done:

I cut out a pumpkin from orange felt and then
pieces to make a Jack-O-Lantern from green
and yellow felt.  He made a Christian pumpkin
based on our memory verse, but he wanted it
to have a sad face! LOL

During our snack, I had him make his own
Pumpkin Patch! I had bought little foam
pumpkin pieces and he drew the faces on them.
Then glued them to a green foam sheet.

This was a GREAT worksheet.
Snag it from 2 Teaching Mommies
in their Pumpkin Pack!

Pumpkin Seed Counting & Puzzles
He LOVED this!!!

We also did SCIENCE stuff:

  • Pumpkin Observations
I used the worksheet from 2 Teaching Mommies in their pumpkin pack! GREAT resource!
  • Guess how much the pumpkin weighs?
Took down the guess, then weighed it on a scale.
  • Does a pumpkin sink or float?
Took little pumpkins and put them in the bath tub.
  • Pumpkin Life Cycle
Looked at how a pumpkin starts with a seed, then a sprout, then a plant, then a flower, then a little green pumpkin and then a BIG orange pumpkin.
  • What happens when a pumpkin is dropped?
Definitely do this outside! We took pumpkins outside and dropped them - yes, they did break into smithereens!
  • Rotten vs. Good
I let a pumpkin rot for a week and then we compared it to a ripe pumpkin from the inside out.  This definitely stinks - we did this outside! LOL

What kind of stuff did you do for a Pumpkin Week?
