Ready for Reading?! Taking a Plunge!

Reading? Is he ready? I wasn't sure, but I took the plunge... and to my surprise he IS ready! Made me realize my little guy isn't a tot anymore, but a big boy ready to explore a new adventure.  And this will definitely be an adventure for me, for I truly had no idea where to begin.  I looked into so many different curriculums, programs, talked with different teachers, and then I discovered on one of my favorite blogs, 1+1+1=1, a reading guide.  This is free, so I figured I would give it a try.  I read through it, then just decided to start out small to see if this was something he wanted to do... so I printed out one of the sight word "pre" books and added a new section to our poster board for sight words.

The first sight word we worked on is "IN".  The prebook I printed out is called "In The Basket" - it's really cute.  Basically, there is a basket and for each page of the book there is a different toy in the basket and the last page has all the toys in the basket.  My son learned the sight word within like 2 days, but it took us about a week to have him "sound" out the words in the prebook for reading - but I think he might of just memorized it.  Either way, it's still a good step in the right direction for beginning reading.  I will continue with this free reading guide program, it's fun and simple to use.

Here is a picture of the prebook:

The "prebooks" are inside the Preschool Printable packages for each Letter.
For example, you can obtain this prebook inside this Preschool Printable HERE.

Here is a video of my little guy reading this book:

My baby boy is growing up!!! :)  I'm so amazed at how much he has learned in less than a year... WOW!

Have Fun and Be a Blessing!
