Date Your Husband: Fall into Romance

Dates would never get planned, if it wasn't for me!!!
But that is perfectly fine with me.  So, for this date I planned to take my
special hubby to Frankenmuth, a German tourist town here in Michigan.  I ended up making a packet and I put three envelopes inside labeled 1 through 3.

He got to open the first envelope on our way to Frankenmuth.
The first page was his hint to where we were going, it said:

"Whisking you off to a land of
Carriages,
Waterfalls,
 Bridges,
Riverboats,
And a picnic with ME
And a warm blanket to cuddle in
And that is just the start of our day..."

When we got to Frankenmuth, since it was rainy, our picnic ended up being inside Riverplace, but I brought a tablecloth, candle, wine glasses, sparkling juice, sub sandwiches, cheeses and crackers, oranges, and chips.
We enjoyed our lunch together and we read the second paper that was in the first envelope.  This is a devotional from "Song of Songs Couples Devotional".  It gave us a little story and then three discussion questions and a challenge for the day.

The questions were:
1. What are some things in your relationship that have only improved with age?
2. What are a couple of areas where you might take each other for granted?
3. What are some safeguards you can build into your marriage to protect your "spring-fed well"?

And then the couple's challenge for day was:
When referring to each other in public, try attaching the possessive "my" in front of your love's name.  Revel in your ownership!

We had LOADS of fun reveling in our ownership of each other and people definitely thought we were a "just married" couple since we kept referring to each other as "my hubby" or "my wife".  It was great! Plus it just took you back to just feeling those initial moments of the relationship.

After our picnic and talk, I gave him the second envelope that had a note that said:

"Now it's time to explore a place of
Mystery...
Discovery...
A-MAZE-Ment...
Corniness...
And maybe some challenge to direction...
Grab the camera and lets go!"

It took him a minute to figure out it was a Corn Maze.  And come to find out, for both us, this would be our first time doing a corn maze.  When got there my husband was relieved they gave us a map, because he didn't want to be one of those people that had to call "911" to find us! LOL  But I have to say, even though we had a map, it was still pretty easy to lose your direction.  I'm just glad we did it in the day time and not at night time, since they don't light it up, you just take a flashlight... talk about easy to get lost!!! But we had fun holding hands, talking, trying to figure out which way to turn and navigate on our map, and trying to keep from falling since it was a little muddy!!! LOL

After the corn maze, I gave him envelope 3, which had a note that said:

"After some silliness and thought
It's time to treat ourselves
At the Riverplace
With Warmth and Sugar
Now let's have a heart to heart
With cupcakes and hot chocolate
Overlooking the waterfall
And talking about this..."

I included a couple's challenge for the month of October, so that we could kick it off here on our date and then continue it on the following weekend.  The challenge is to ask each other 5 questions at the end of the week and record each others responses on the papers and follow through throughout the week.

The 5 questions are:
1. How did you feel loved this past week?
2. What does your upcoming week look like?
3. How would you feel most loved and encouraged in the days ahead?
4. How would you feel best pursued in sex/intimacy this week?
5. How can I pray for you this week?

Our Fall into Romance date became a beginning to a road for improvement.  Neither of us really wanted the day to end, but we had a little guy to pick up and let him enjoy some daddy time too!!!

We already have another date scheduled on the calendar and I can't wait (neither can he!).

Have Fun and Be A Blessing!!!

  1. You are very creative! I was much more creative before having children. I seem to be going in all directions right now. I am going to make dating my husband a priority. Those are great questions. Thanks for sharing!
