Week 2 PreK Science: God has the Power to Clean

Our Bible lesson for Week 2 was about how Jesus is the ultimate superhero and He is the only one with ALL the power and is the only one who can clean our hearts!

To help sink this in, we did a science experiment with dirty pennies, vinegar and salt.

 First, he poured in 1/2 cup of vinegar into a bowl.

Added 1 Tbsp. of salt and mixed it together.

Dropped in the dirty pennies and let them sit.

After sat in the solution for about 5 hours (we had other things to do),

I first had him pick up a dirty penny and try to wipe it clean on his own but it didn't work.  So, then he pulled out the pennies in the solution, wiped them

and noticed that all the junk on the penny was coming off really easy and the penny had a new shine to it.

He compared the penny that was in the solution to a dirty penny.

It was like it was brand new again!

JJ thought this was an awesome experiment!

How did we tie this into our Bible Lesson:

• We all need a superhero - why?
  Because we can't clean ourselves up, just like we can't clean a dirty penny without the help of a "cleaner".
• Jesus has all the power.
  Just like a penny needs a "cleaner", Jesus has the power to "clean" our lives up, no matter what mistakes we make, He has promised to forgive us and make us new.
